They document the development, manufacturing and promotion of General Motors products as well as its events, facilities and leadership. This video collection is part of General Motors’ Global Media Archive, which houses thousands of motion picture films and video masters from around the world. GM Media Archive As a partner to the GM Heritage Center, the General Motors Media Archive manages GM’s global repository of historical photography, motion picture film, video and digital media spanning from the 19th Century to the present. The kits are part of the GM Heritage Center archive, including archived documents, artifacts and assorted automobilia from General Motors.

They represent a small but varied sample of the types of documents, pamphlets and automobilia preserved by General Motors. These collections include over eight million photographic images, 220,000 video masters, 25,000 motion picture films, and one and a half million digital media files.

Please note that some of these files may be quite large. Materials that relate to any of General Motors’ current and historic North American brands as well as its global partners fall within the scope of the collection.The following videos are a brief snapshot of the archive. It was established in 1993 through the consolidation of more than 60 disparate collections from various corporate staffs and divisions.As we continue to digitize our vehicle archives, we will add additional kits to this section.
