I am so excited to stumble upon your blog! An occasional oddity may cross your path, such as the gutted old car that seems to appear out of nowhere and leaves you scratching your head as to how it could possibly have gotten there!
trail very well marked until massapequa preserve. The park features a flyway for many species of migratory birds, and is a good place to stop for a rest and maybe a timely snack. The problem that I run into hiking on LI is worn out trails with many diverted footpaths and lack of maps. Although the cell service shouldn’t be a problem, it is something about looking at the map over google maps on the phone that makes it a more natural/wilderness experience.
Gonna try and hit this Saturday.
