Chicago Democrat Mayor Lori Lightfoot promised to hire department heads and deputies who will be “pledging allegiance to the new world order and good governance” in a disturbing interview after her landslide election victory.

Her remarks were taken out of context.She states: “The way that aldermanic prerogative works is there’s got to be compliance with the executive branch, because otherwise it doesn’t work. So, you gotta eliminate that compliance and make a mandate.“Holy sh*t, they’re this blatant about it. How do you do it? And then I think you have the inspector general do some spot audits to make sure that there is real compliance.”She then explains to the Tribune that after signing an executive order, she will hire and train new personnel in charge of zoning, planning, and housing that will also be committed to changing Chicago’s political culture.In context, Lightfoot used the term “new world order” to reference a dramatic change in power in the political culture of Chicago, not as an allusion to the conspiracy of a totalitarian world government (often referred to as “New World Order”).
