I had the Blackened Mahi Mahi and it was great.
The list of drinks is not very long, yet quite interesting, in fact we found something that satisfied our craving. It's a bar and grill as well, so that makes it a perfect place for an evening with friends. Our meals were perfectly good for the price and the service is attentive. You can also come here for lunch. Run to this place! The food melts in your mouth - and it's relatively inexpensive. They serve food too, but the jazz is the thing to go for. Tough crowd. I'll definitely go back next time around!We came here twice -- once just for dinner, to check the place out, and once for a show. Unfortunately we did not try the food, but the plates our neighbours ordered smelled delicious.
If you like jazz, check out the online calendar and make a trip. There can be covers (around 10$) to get in when a band is booked to play. What isn't there to love? The Calamari was nicely pan fried and cooked perfectly with a little spice. It's exactly what we expected it to be...actually the only negative aspect is that we expected to find lots more of these places in Montreal, being such a important city when it comes to jazz...so I'd definitely be a regular if I were to live there. We're used to jazz in tired old places, but this one was all cleaned up and pretty. Upstairs Jazz Club: LOVE!! There is a 5$ cover charge...which is nothing!! Being jazz lovers, this place was exactly what we looking for. Good music, nice vibe, reasonable prices. Service was not the greatest, but I really enjoyed the food. The atmosphere is very pleasant, you can really feel the musicians' passion, being so close to them -but not too close. The Glenmorangie Beyond The Cask bar is making a return to Soho this week, bringing together cocktails, tasting sessions and rare whiskies from Thursday March 3 until Saturday March 12.
