Please remember, pack it in, pack it out! if you don’t go basically at the crack of dawn don’t go at all cause then you’ll basically walking through the desert. The scenery can’t be beat, perfect views of the lake the entire time. I don’t know how people are doing this but it’s illegal and the closure is through June 30 unless the federal order is lifted before then. The shoreline areas of Butcher Jones, Peregrine Cove, Camper Cove and Burro Cove have fish habitat installed to enhance fishing opportunities. Dogs are also able to use this trail but must be kept on leash. Butcher Jones Trail 463 provides access to some choice vantage points from which to catch a bird’s-eye view of the lake. We only hiked 2 miles in as we wanted to stay by the water. No entry at all until further notice.Looove this trail especially in the fall, winter, and spring!This is one of my favorite hikes close to Phoenix. It gets a little dicey in some of the more narrow areas around the lake banks so be alert if you’ve got little ones with you. There’s snakes and this is definitely not kid or dog friendly if you take your kids or pets you should be ashamed of yourself.
