For every fun mission where you blow up a base or take down skilled enemy pilots, who really can throw you for a loop (literally), there’s something far less appealing around the corner, including a wide variety of escort missions and at least three levels with slow, winding stealth sections. Even before you strap in and soar into the sky alongside your peers, you are given the opportunity to inspect your craft and the surrounding hangar, allowing you to soak in the painstaking detail that has been poured into every aspect of its creation. Content-wise, it is a far cry from the full fat, maximum sugar single-player campaign seen elsewhere in the game, as the Ace Combat 7 VR missions number just three and don’t take very long to complete at all.
