This is the 25th Anniversary of Sirius Rising, a festival that I’ve been going to since 2003. Much of that is because I’ve heard nothing but truly great things about it over the years, but I’m also an old Tennessee-boy, a graduate of Gallatin Senior High School. Visitors can also walk through an 80 metre-long tunnel covered by unique white wisteria flowers. It was about all I want at a festival. It would be prefect for the wedding too.These are jaw-dropping beautiful.

I’ve also heard that Sacred Harvest is especially family-friendly. That speaks volumes about this festival, or perhaps it means that none of us like tent camping and are happy to be at a conference with beds. I got asked about presenting at Chrysalis Moon earlier this year and at the very end they chose to go another way. I think I have reasons for being disappointed. Nearly all of the festivals listed here allow children and adults, and many feature special programming for children and young adults. There’s almost always something going on at an outdoor festival! My favorite part of Starwood for many years was always the “devival” led by the Church of the Sub-Genius’s Ivan Stang, and he’d often open up his bit by riffing on the program book and lightly poking fun at the presenters and workshops listed within. Also, the woods out near Lagunitas are so beautiful. American wisteria has a somewhat unpleasant smell.
