Sunset Union Valley Reservoir Campground has 131 single-family campsites and is located next to Union Valley Reservoir in the El Dorado National Forest. Sunset Campground is a large camping area on a peninsula along the eastern side of Union Valley Reservoir in the Crystal Basin area of the Eldorado National Forest. High clearance vehicles recommended. Union Valley Reservoir campgrounds are at about 4,900 feet in elevation and are usually open from Memorial Day weekend through late September. Union Valley Reservoir Campgrounds. Utica Reservoir only permits non-motorized boats.


Not all campsites can accommodate trailers or RVs of all lengths.There is no potable water nor trash service at any of the campgrounds around Union and Utica reservoirs. Some sites are walk-in. Take a canoe, a fishing pole (with license) and your restful vacation is assured. Aptly named, the campground is a fantastic destination for colorful sunset views over the lake. Union Reservoir, the sister to Utica Reservoir, is in the Stanislaus National Forest at an elevation of over 8,000 feet.Small no-frills campgrounds are set near this beautiful lake formed in majestic Sierra granite. Fishing is often good, and fisherman are present pretty much any time open water present.

Not only do they have two different lakes, but also four different lake view campgrounds to choose from: Sandy Flat and Rocky Point on Utica and Union West and Union East on Union. Union Reservoir has two campgrounds: Union West Campground with 18 sites and Union East Campground with 11. Most campsites have at least partial views of the reservoir.
