50th Anniversary Celebration: Flyers Alumni vs. Penguins Alumni The 2016-17 season will mark the start of the 50th anniversary season of Flyers hockey. Founded in 1898, The Greater Pittsburgh Chapter of the Penn State Alumni Association was the first regional chapter at Penn State. The Pittsburgh Penguins Alumni Association Scholarship to a high school senior who has demonstrated outstanding academic achievement, good citizenship, school and community involvement, and who has shown an intense love for the game of hockey personified by on-ice hustle, achievement beyond his/her talent level, leadership, sportsmanship and teamwork. The scholarship award is valued at $2,000, and the deadline for submission is Monday, April 20, 2020.There are three scholarship opportunities annually available to graduating seniors who play hockey in the PIHL:The Pennsylvania Interscholastic Hockey League Scholarships are awarded to senior hockey players currently participating in the PIHL.
