Still gorgeous views, but be prepared to bring waterproof boots and keep an eye on the trail because of the snow coverage which can get people lost.Great hike starting at the trail head in Hermit Valley going down the Mokelumne River until it meets Deer Creek. If you happen to go 5 miles east from the staging area there's a fascinating structure known as the Kiln. Went over Memorial Day while camping at Hermit Valley. It's actually made out of bricks and is just slightly off the trail. The best campsite is on the north side of the Camping in three U.S. Forest Service campgrounds near Salt Springs Reservoir.

The hiking trail route totals 17.9 miles taking hikers through sections of southern pine forest and Atlantic White Cedar bottoms. Plan a summer trip, and you could raft the whitewater, or float away your Sunday down the river. Was very quiet and we only encountered one other group the entire time. I’m not entirely sure we made it to the actual trail end, it wasn’t not very clear and you had do ID some cairns at points so maybe we missed a turn or something so we just turned around at the two mile mark which is about where it was unclear where to go from there.
