MILWAUKEE — The Housing Authority for the city of Milwaukee has announced a waitlist lottery for those who wish to apply for rental assistance.Those 3,000 households will be placed on a waitlist for the Housing Choice Voucher Program (Section 8).To qualify for the pre-application, the head of the household must be at least 18-years-old. For the first time since 2015, the Housing Authority of the City of Milwaukee (HACM) will open the Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List Lottery starting June 23, 2020 at 9:00 a.m. through Thursday, June 25, 2020 at 6:00 p.m. CDT.
From these applications, a random lottery will be held to select 3,000 households for the waitlist.The pre-application lottery opens at 9 a.m. on June 23 and will remain open through 6 p.m. on June 25. The wait list will be limited to 3,000 applicants so that they will have a reasonable expectation that they may receive a Housing Choice Voucher within a 2- to 3-year time period. If you register by this method and are selected in the random lottery, you will be mailed a Pre-Application Form along with a Reasonable Accommodation Form to verify your need for the accommodation.
