Head Coach: John Tyler John Tyler begins his fourth season as Point's head baseball coach in 2019-20, and has been a member of Point University's baseball coaching staff for 10 seasons after graduating from Point University in Dec., 2010, with a Bachelor's degree in business.In his first season of joining the coaching staff, Tyler helped guide the Skyhawks to their first NCCAA II National Championship in school history, and in 2016, he helped guide Point into its first-ever NAIA World Series appearance after it won the NAIA National Tournament Opening Round (Savannah bracket) and placed second behind Tennessee Wesleyan in the AAC Tournament.Steven Brown begins his fourth season with the Skyhawk's coaching staff after working two seasons for LaGrange College (Ga.). Brown serves as the pitching coach and also directs the team's strength training and coordinates Point's baseball recruiting effots. Brown, a Trevecca Nazarene (Tenn.) University graduate, has 11 years of experience as a collegiate coach.Point has won 100 and lost 69 in Tyler's first three seasons as head coach. His 100th career victory came on May 1, 2019, when Point shut out Reinhardt, 10-0, in an AAC Tournament first-round game. The 2019 team won 30 and lost 23. The Skyhawks tied for the regular-season Appalachian Athletics Conference title and posted 33 victories in Tyler's first season (2017), and set a school record with 37 wins and won the AAC Tournament in 2018.Point placed fourth in the 2018 AAC regular-season standings but won four of its five games in the AAC Tournament and emerged with its first-ever conference tournament championship. The Skyhawks added three more wins in five games in the NAIA National Championships Opening Round (Lawrenceville Bracket), losing in a second-round game and the championship game to bracket champion Georgia Gwinnett.In 2012, Brown was as an assistant for the Brewster White Caps in the Cape Cod League.
