Tweet. With only four cores/threads, it has more processing power than a Core i3 for CPU-intensive tasks (see below), but in games Intel's Skylake/Kaby Lake architecture generally proves faster. The first two models, Ryzen 3 2200G and Ryzen 5 2400G, that AMD has released are the first CPUs with embedded Radeon Vega architecture graphics. Obviously, anyone looking at a budget processor isn't primarily concerned with video editing or chips that cost three times as much (or more).Given the core counts, the placing of the Ryzen 3 parts is about what you'd expect. There are more changes compared to regular Ryzen though, 4MB opposed to 8MB L3 cache, but the same 512K L2 cache per core. Both include AMD's Wraith Stealth cooler. Again, the Ryzen 7 1800X and Core i7-7700K are here as a point of reference.

17 Oct 2019 As with most budget processors, there are tradeoffs that need to be made, but Ryzen 3 competes well against Intel's budget offerings. With the mainstream Ryzen parts now fully released, all that's left now is for AMD to deliver some Ryzen APUs with integrated Vega graphics. There are also games where the lack of SMT on Ryzen 3 appears to help relative to the 4-core Ryzen 5 chips, with about a third of the games performing slightly better on Ryzen 3, and minimum fps (on the 1500X in particular) suggests some sort of resource contention might be going on.As a general purpose CPU, Ryzen 3 often outperforms Intel's Core i3 parts.

So the APUs are pretty close to that as a theoretical threshold as well. These are both quad-core processors; Ryzen 5 gets SMT (hyper-threading), thus the 2400G gets, with SMT enabled, 8-threads. The AMD Ryzen 3 3200U belongs to the lower mid range processors for notebooks. I had to settle for a lower overclock on the 1200, eventually getting it stable at 3850MHz. Also, PCIe lanes move from x16 to x8 lanes in the 'Raven Ridge' design. Use of AVX instructions helps Intel CPUs in y-cruncher, as well as x265, but in other applications Ryzen 3's 4-core design easily beat's the 2-core/4-thread Intel counterparts.Again, if I were to use a budget GPU like a 1050 Ti or RX 560, most of the gaming performance differences between the CPUs would evaporate. Both include AMD's Wraith Stealth cooler. More details on overclocking the Ryzen 3 chips is below.Thank you for signing up to PC Gamer. On other boards, even with the latest firmware, I've still had issues with some of the CPUs. We'll start at the 'entry-level' with Ryzen 3 and 5 processors series lining up with Intel's Core i3 series. And for AMD faster memory is important for two reasons, the first being it reacts better to CPU bound gaming and, secondly, system memory is an elementary link for AMD's APU to get the highest performance possible. For integrated graphics, the memory cannot be fast enough as that system memory is used. We peek at the 99 USD four-core Ryzen 3 2200G, an integrated Radeon Vega based desktop APU (Raven Ridge) that is priced very competitively, yet comes with a 3.5 GHz base and 3.7 GHz boost clock. For gaming, the 1200 is about 10 percent faster again, but the gains are a bit less on the 1300X, improving by six percent.
