3700X is more of a compromise between gaming and various productivity workloads, it's a middle-ground CPU.The 8700k and the r7 3800x are so close in performance you wouldn't be able to tell the difference if you couldn't see the numbers. It's easy!Yeah, the future proofing thing - it's hard to say. Synthetic performance index. At a minimum, they would be equals. I'll try my best to test it out in the sim.Yes, intel chips are still the optimal cpus for p3d solely because of their overclocking ability, if you’re after the last extra fps. 100%.

I find this to be...I tested the 3800x at various frequencies from 4 ghz to 4.4 ghz, the increase in fps is pretty much linear. It's all very well comparing the two processors at the same clock frequency, but if (for example) the i7 8700k has significantly greater overclocking potential, then it stands to reason that (all other things being equal) this processor would be the better choice for P3D (which is basically what the OP indicated in his original post). It's all very well comparing the two processors at the same clock frequency, but if (for example) the i7 8700k has significantly greater overclocking potential, then it stands to reason that (all other things being equal) this processor would be the better choice for P3D (which is basically what the OP indicated in his original post). So with all things being equal, including CPU frequency, one would find no appreciable difference in FSX performance between an Intel 8700K CPU and an AMD 3800X CPU?Gigabyte Z97X-UD5H-BK, Blk Ed MB; Intel I7-4790K CPU (@4.5 Ghz); Deepcool 240 AIO Cooler; 16 Gb G.Skill RAM (F3-2400); Win10 Pro (P3D V5 HF1); 2 Samsung 1Tb SSDs;Toshiba 3Tb hard drive; Gigabyte Aorus Extreme 1080ti 11Gb VRAM; Toshiba 43" LED TV @ 4k;i7 7700K 4.8 \ MSI RTX 2080Ti GAMINGX TRIO \ M.2  Samsung 970 EVO Plus 1TB C Drive \ 2TB Samsung 850 EVO \ 2TB BarraCuba \ 32GB G.SKILL Z DDR4 3600MHZ \ Windows 10 Home\ ASUS 28" 4K monitor\ 4TB Portable Drive\P3DV5It would be interesting to see what effect overclocking the AMD Infinity Fabric would have.

Intel Core i7-8700K. Which cpu would likely be better for gaming 4 years from now?You could have bought a z390 motherboard with the 8700k as well....I have an 8700K and even when I ran stock clocks with a 1080ti my CPU never got that maxed out by B04. Still, it is an interesting comparison and if increasing the CPU frequency is or is very near a linear increase in fps, then the AMD processor might be slightly better than the Intel processor. I like the 8700k and it's a great cpu but I wouldn't buy it at this point even if for mainly gaming. Most benchmarks I have seen show them within 5% of each other and honestly if you put the two systems next to each other you most likely wouldn't be able to guess which one is which. Also, disabling SMT brought down temps by 10c atleast. Plus while i generally dont oc im not opposed to doing it, so why not get a k, the price difference is small. You could have bought a z390 motherboard with the 8700k as well....Id get the best thing I could afford. Yeah you can say that intel is better for gaming but it's a hard sell when the difference is not noticeable. Mainly concerned about future proofing. AMD Ryzen 7 3700X vs Intel Core i7-8700K. Kinda wish I got the 9700k but everyone said they are the same. The argument of the 3800X is much more expensive than the 3600 without providing much more gaming performance is an argument too.I personally don't see 6 cores being shit in 4 years. 101%. My personal opinion is that at this point you either get the 9900k or you dont go Intel.Im a little confused by benchmarks. 16 vs … AMD Ryzen 7 3700X. 3200MHz vs 2666MHz; 4 more CPU threads? I got mine on sale at microcenter about a year ago and there was an incredible sale so it was worth it but I do not see a reason to buy it at this point. (Obviously GPU matters more in many scenarios)I am considering the 9900k, as expensive as it is. Relative performance. AMD Ryzen 7 3800X. Mine can sit at 90% just playing cod bo4.My 8700k isn’t too great though it was better than the last. But it's hard to know what the future will bring for certain, newer games that aren't out yet could start to push the standard for more threads.i usually oc gpu but leave cpu stock. The 3900x is way more expensive, assuming you can find one, and for gaming doesnt seem to be any better. If you really want to upgrade, either will do you fine. I like the 8700k and it's a great cpu but I wouldn't buy it at this point even if for mainly gaming. I think 8 may be useful, but the 7700K is still a solid CPU after 4 years...The 9700k and the 8700k are essentially the same CPU tbh. 123%.

I mean the r5 3600 and 3600x perform not far off from the 8700k for much cheaper.I am considering the 9900k, as expensive as it is.

Intel Core i7-8700K… More cores seems to be the answer for today’s games.Price of it and limitations are why I didn’t.My 4790k is stock.
